Search Marshall County Inmate Records

Marshall County inmate records are searched through a mix of county jail contact points and Kentucky's statewide offender lookup. A Marshall County jail roster search should start with the state KOOL system, then move to the detention center phone line when a recent booking has not appeared online. The same inmate records path also separates local jail custody from sentenced state prison custody, federal custody, and immigration detention.

Marshall County Jail Roster Overview

Marshall County, Kentucky did not have a separate county-hosted current inmate roster in the official sources reviewed for this build. The official Marshall County Detention Center page gives the jail phone number, open-records email, visitation rules, commissary links, and contact details, but it does not publish a local booking-search page. The statewide online path is Kentucky Online Offender Lookup, usually called KOOL. KOOL can show people in county jail locations, state custody, and supervised status records maintained by the Kentucky Department of Corrections.

This distinction matters for Marshall County inmate records because a new Benton or Calvert City arrest may be logged at the jail before it is visible in KOOL. A person who has been sentenced or moved into DOC control may appear in KOOL after the local booking file is no longer the best source. Federal prisoners and immigration detainees are outside the Marshall County jail roster and use separate federal systems. Ordinary county jail questions still route first to the detention center at 270-527-4760, especially for current custody, release, and hold status.

Local lookup rule: use KOOL for the online search, then call the jail when the arrest is recent or the record needs local booking detail.

Use Marshall County Inmate Lookup

KOOL is the public search tool that can filter to Marshall County Detention Center. It is better suited to state and county-jail location data than to minute-by-minute booking activity. The DOC KOOL page says the system is offered as a public service, updates daily, and may not finalize newer offender data for 120 days. That warning is important for Marshall County inmate records after a fresh arrest because jail staff may have the current intake status before the online offender record catches up.

  1. Open Kentucky Online Offender Lookup and start with the person's last name.
  2. Add first or middle name when the results list is too broad, and use the alias option if the person may use another name.
  3. Choose incarcerated inmates or narrow by the Marshall County Detention Center location when the person should be in local custody.
  4. Open the result and read the location, offender number, photo indicator, offense category, and custody status.
  5. If no result appears, call Marshall County Detention Center or submit a detention open-records request for the booking record.

The official detention center source identifies the open-records channel for jail records as roger.ford@marshallcountyky.gov. A written request should be narrow: full name, date of birth if known, approximate booking date, arresting agency, and the record requested. For dispatch or non-detention incident records, the county Quick Links page points to an Emergency 911 record request form rather than the jailer's email.

Marshall County Roster Search Fields

The KOOL fields are useful because they show what a public user can search before contacting the jail. The form accepts name fields and filters that help separate a county jail location from a statewide DOC prison record. The location filter is especially useful for Marshall County inmate records because indexed KOOL URLs show a Marshall County Detention Center location value.

The DOC KOOL landing page explains that VINE is also available for custody notices. VINE is not a roster. It is a notification service for release, transfer, escape, and parole-hearing alerts across county jails, prisons, mental-health facilities, and juvenile detention centers.

Marshall County Inmate Profile Fields

Because no local Marshall County booking profile page was found, the public online field inventory comes from KOOL. KOOL records are DOC-style offender records. They can confirm a person's current location and custody category, but they do not replace a jail booking sheet. The jail may hold local booking data that KOOL does not show, including the booking number, arresting agency, local charge wording, bond type, housing assignment, and exact release date.

Find County State Federal Inmates

Marshall County inmate records are split by custody system. The county jail handles pretrial detainees, locally sentenced inmates, Class D inmates, parole violators, controlled-intake inmates, and people awaiting transfer. The Kentucky Department of Corrections handles statewide offender records and sentenced prison custody. The Federal Bureau of Prisons and ICE run separate databases for federal and immigration custody, so a person may not appear in the Marshall County jail record even if the arrest happened in the county.

The BOP locator is not a county jail roster. BOP result fields include name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location. ICE ODLS is also separate and requires either A-number information or biographical data. If a federal hold or detainer appears in a local record, the holding agency may control release even when a Marshall County charge has a bond amount.

Marshall County Jail Facilities

The Kentucky DOC weekly jail report separates Marshall County into two facility lines. The main secure jail line is Marshall County Detention Center. The separate Marshall JRC line reflects a restricted-custody Class D dorm population at the same published detention-center campus address. Both are tied to the Marshall County Jailer and Fiscal Court, but they serve different custody levels.

Marshall County Booking Records

Local booking begins after arrest or warrant service by the sheriff, Benton Police, Calvert City Police, Kentucky State Police, or another lawful agency. The person is taken to Marshall County Detention Center unless medical needs or another jurisdiction changes the path. Intake normally includes identification, record creation, a search, property inventory, fingerprints, booking photograph, medical screening, classification, and housing assignment. The official jail page states that no outside medications can be brought into the facility, so medication issues must be handled through jail medical channels.

Booking records and court records are related but not the same. A booking record shows custody intake and local jail status. A court record shows charges filed in District or Circuit Court, hearing dates, bond orders, and dispositions. District Court handles misdemeanors, traffic matters, violations, and felony probable-cause hearings, while Circuit Court handles felony proceedings. Court charges after custody are covered in more detail on the Marshall County court records after jail arrest page.

Marshall County Visitation Rules

The official detention center page gives detailed in-person visitation rules. Each inmate is allowed one 20-minute visit per week. Visitors must sign the lobby log legibly and call the control room through the intercom before they are considered signed in. Cell phones, recording devices, and photo-taking devices are not allowed. Violations can lead to removal and suspended visitation privileges.

Clothing rules are also strict. Clothing must be mailed from a third party such as Amazon or Walmart, arrive within 14 days of the inmate entering the jail, and fit the county's white or gray cotton-item list. The jail does not allow tobacco, cigarettes, outside medication, draw strings, buttons, zippers, blue jean shorts, sweatshirts, or sweat or pajama pants.

Marshall County Inmate Funds

Marshall County uses separate vendor channels for jail commissary, care packages, video/text/email services, and traditional phone funding. The county Quick Links page and detention page name Care-a-Cell for commissary-related services and InmateSales for phone account funding. Families should confirm custody before sending money because a transfer, release, hold, or state DOC movement can change where funds should be placed.
